Question

I was talking with someone today about certain aspects of religion. He asked me this. " When God gave up His son to die on the cross He knew he would be getting Him back. So why is this such a big sacrifice?"

Dave is going to China for 10 days. I will miss him. He is my best friend and closest confidant. He is part of me. I know he's coming back, but that doesn't make me miss him less when he's not here.

Of course, this can not compare to the completely perfect union and fellowship that God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit share from eternity past. Not to mention the whole aspect of God's wrath being poured out on His Beloved Son...

Deep question!

That is a deep question!

I think that it is the fact that He was willing to sacrifice His son for all of us sinners. He had no sin, yet paid the price for all of our sins. He had to watch His son be beaten and crucified. How painful, even if he knew that he would "get him back".

We, as Believers, know that we will be reunited with our loved ones that die in heaven someday, but that doesn't make it easy when they leave our lives here on earth.
